I grew up in Shropshire and I moved to Cardiff in 2002 to be near my sister. I stayed in Cardiff for 6 years before heading to the Far East to teach English in China between 2008 and 2013. On my return I moved to Abergavenny, now my forever home, where I live with my cat and continue my career in teaching.
I am a self-taught artist with no formal training, just the normal art classes taken in secondary school and sixth form. I started painting again after joining The Well-Being Life Boat in Mardy, whereby I got involved with some art therapy to help with anxiety and depression after the passing of my mother. I loved losing myself in my creations so much I went out and got some supplies. I usually paint every day and a great supporter of Art Therapy.
Both my parents were amateur artists. My mother in watercolours and my father in acrylics, so a love of art runs in the family. As a teenager I used to write poetry and draw portraits in black and white, most of which are now lost. In the future I would like to work in resin and alcohol ink and hope to spend more time painting and have my own studio.
Anna will be in Chester’s Wine Merchants from Friday to Sunday.
